Meta Portal
Designing the Portal product line meant solving a very human problem during an unprecedented era of distance. At the height of the pandemic, when physical walls separated families and colleagues, your work on Portal Go and Portal Plus (Pro) served as a bridge, turning cold technology into a warm, low-friction invitation to connect.
The design philosophy wasn't just about hardware; it was about presence.
Portal Plus: The Professional Sanctuary
For the "Work From Home" era, the Portal Plus was designed to be the ultimate collaborative companion. Recognizing that a laptop screen is often cluttered and claustrophobic, this device acted as a dedicated window into the office.
Optimized Collaboration: A pivoting, high-resolution screen designed specifically to unburden the primary computer, allowing for seamless video calls and whiteboarding without the "tech fatigue."
Approachable Productivity: Even as a professional tool, it avoided the sterile look of office equipment. By integrating soft curves and a minimalist silhouette, it stood as a piece of furniture rather than a piece of IT.
Portal Go: Connection Without Complexity
While the world became increasingly digital, many—especially children and the elderly—were left behind by complex interfaces. Portal Go was the heart-warming answer to that gap.
Joyful Interaction: Designed for the non-tech-affine, it featured a portable, "pick-up-and-go" form factor with an integrated handle and a wireless charging dock.
Designed for the Hands: It wasn't meant to be feared; it was meant to be carried from the kitchen to the playroom, facilitating spontaneous moments with grandparents or friends.
